Characterization IRGAGUARD B 7000 is an inorganic Silver Glass based antimicrobial inhibiting the growth of Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, mold and yeast. The product can be processed at temperatures > 500 oC. Special Glass design allow for controlled Silver-ion release. The bioavailability of silver-ions is critical to the antimicrobial efficacy. The specific porous glass structure determines the bioavailability of the Silver-ions.
Composition Silver-Zinc-Glass
Applications Features/benefits IRGAGUARD B 7000 has been optimized for fiber applications. Suitable polymers are Polyolefins such as PP, PA, and PET. Key areas of applications are air conditioning, filter, fabrics, sanitary accessories (i.e. brushes), hospi-tal supplies and others. IRGAGUARD B 7000 prevents growth of bacteria, mold and yeast on plastic surfaces. Therefore it provides odor control, hygiene maintenance and the possibility for product differentiation. The combination of low migration rates and high melting point makes it especially suitable for high processing and use temperatures as well as for thin layers. It gives durable efficacy even with thin plastic articles. IRGAGUARD B 7000 has been optimized with respect to color retention under sun light exposure as compared to standard Silver-based anti-microbials, which can show discoloration.
